Peace Face hat mini
Wear the peace face on your face for peace!
Cotton twill hat with Fastex clip closure.
This hat is a little smaller than our normal hats. We made it for kids but TBH they came a little bigger than expected but smaller than normal. So great for your kids or those with a smaller noggin.
The meaning of the peace symbol has morphed over time but remains an enduring sentiment of hope for a better world in the face of darkness. Originally conceived by graphic designer Gerald Holtom in 1958 as a visual to accompany marches for Nuclear Disarmament in the UK, it was also a symbol of despair; Holtom writes “I drew myself: the representative of an individual in despair with hands palm outstretched outwards and downwards in the manner of Goya's peasant before the firing squad.” Although specifically designed for the anti-nuclear movement it has quite deliberately never been copyrighted. No one has to pay or to seek permission before they use it. A symbol of freedom, it is free for all.
The symbol has accompanied generations of protests from nuclear weapons to the Vietnam war, and we hope it remains as a mark of optimism in this season of tumult and social transformation.
